Our curriculum has been carefully aligned with Montessori and Early Years guidance. We encourage children to move freely, safely and with confidence within the setting while gaining an awareness of safety and space issues. We offer a wide range of scheduled sessions, including music classes, language classes and yoga classes. We also promote outdoor activities on a daily basis and life experiences such as planting, washing up and preparing snacks.

• Personal, Social and Emotional Development

  Respect and understanding throughout the nursery helps to ensure that children develop a strong sense of self and grow in confidence. We encourage children to form position relationships and bonds with others so that they gain an understanding of their own life and how actions affect others. Through our daily routine and activities and the use of our Montessori resources, children also learn to develop independence.

  We use a combined Montessori and Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework. During the day, children will move between their Early Years and Montessori classrooms and experience a huge and varied range of activities all designed to enhance their development, learning and understanding of the world around them.

• Communication and Language

  We encourage children to communicate effectively with both their friends and adults within the setting. Communication skills are developed through interactions with others with the use of songs, rhymes, stories and imaginative play. We also encourage the children to share their personal news during our ‘news time’ activity. This is a great way for them to express themselves to their group and to discuss personal, local and world events.
